German industrial designer whose work is grounded in rigorous research, technical insight and functional clarity. Trained as a cabinetmaker and educated at the Royal College of Art in London, his practice spans furniture and product design, and his work with leading manufacturers including Vitra is characterised by thoughtful investigation into materials and technology. The Vitra Design Museum has devoted a monographic exhibition to his work, which is held in major design collections worldwide.
