Hailing from Brittany, France, the brothers Ronan (born 1971) and Erwan Bouroullec (born 1976) have emerged as two of the most successful designers working today. With a body of work spanning small objects through to large architectural projects, the Bouroullec brother’s primary focus is the design and organisation of interior space.
Before starting their own studio in Paris, Ronan studied at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, whilst Erwan attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise. They began collaborating with Vitra in the early 2000s and have since gone on to work with other leading design companies, including Artek.
With their innovative designs for domestic and office furniture, along with their diverse home accessories, the brothers have transformed the design industry. Their work can be found in the permanent collections of select international museums including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum in London.
