Just Landed: Leap Chair with Headrest from Steelcase.
Building on DLA Piper’s International Design Guidelines, this fitout for DLA Piper Wellington is a triumph of good design and a celebration of the firm’s key values of connectedness, collegiality, learning, transparency and diversity. Working alongside Jasmax, Kada were charged with developing furniture solutions that met the needs of this busy law firm whilst aligning with the look and feel of the global DLA Piper brand.
An open-plan layout was created to promote effective and efficient workflows and facilitate better access to senior staff. NOOXS Think Tanks by Bene, equipped with Leap office chairs by Steelcase and Elevate Fixed Height desks, were placed in focus zones throughout the layout to ensure staff would have easily accessible spaces to retreat to for concentrated work when required.
Jasmax sought to harness the wonderful views afforded by the location and orientation of the DLA Piper offices. A 10-person capacity NOOXS Think Tank, delicately placed in front of the exterior glazing, captures stunning views of Wellington harbour and is an ideal space for holding meetings. An elegant Marina Table by Schiavello and Physix chairs by Vitra give the space an added sense of lightness and refinement.
In the reception area, Schiavello’s Vertical Garden provides for lush greenery and creates a dialogue between architecture and landscape. Plant life is a recurring motif throughout the fitout, with bespoke storage solutions featuring specially designed fixtures for pot plants created to sit beside Elevate Shared Pod height-adjust desks. These units not only act as practical storage solutions, but also help to delineate space within the open plan area.
The new fitout is one that tangibly meets the needs specific to the Wellington office, without compromising the consistency of the look and feel present across DLA Piper offices globally. In this carefully considered open-plan space, staff are easily able to connect with one another and the flow of knowledge is prioritised over traditional hierarchies.
“The Kada team were instrumental to the success of this project. They were a trusted partner we worked with on Auckland DLA Piper fitout and therefore familiar with the requirements of this progressive law firm. Dave and Jasmine were proactive and responsive and provided great customer service.” – Valentina Machina, Senior Interior Designer at Jasmax
