Kada had the privileged to recently supply furniture to NZME building, supporting their relocation into the historic 1930’s Christchurch Municipal Electrical Department Building (MED).

Following significant damage from the 2010-11 Christchurch Earthquakes, Three Sixty Architecture oversaw the restoration of the 1000m2 structure, retaining the classically styled plaster façade and distinctive metal triangular windows. Many of the original features, such as high ceilings, steel trusses, and timber sarking, have been preserved.

The NZME project required an open plan office with café areas for more than 50 people, as well as radio booths for their various radio stations. The NZME office houses their media brands including radio stations Newstalk ZB, and ZM, the New Zealand Herald newspaper and various websites.

The project brief was interesting for Three Sixty Architecture as the landlord wanted to create an enticing office, that would present flexible to whomever the tenant would be. Therefore, with a high-level of understanding of function and quantity, and 12 months prior to knowing room sizes interiors, Three Sixty Architecture had to make selections based on budget, and a good understanding of what a contemporary office requires.

Kada was engaged by Three Sixty Architecture as a furniture supplier for the NZME office, as they had known we had the knowledge and be able to provide a variety of products readily available 12 months prior. “We knew that Kada would be able to provide good quality, and well-designed products, that would completement our fitout design, even before our fitout was designed.”

Actiu Wings Chairs and Tabula tables were included in the open planned kitchen area. These versatile and functional furniture pieces were great additions to the informal café setting, bringing elegance and a burst of colour.

Together with Three Sixty Architecture, we worked on delivering the best office chair solution to meet the wide range of staff needs. Designed to provide practicality and functionality, the Sync 2 from Dauphin was included into the NZME office fitout, the intuitive nature of the chair makes it the perfect all-around ergonomic option for focus, task, or collaborative work environments.

The Marina Workstations were a great addition to the office as they are designed to meet the flexible culture of today’s workplaces, providing multifunctional solutions to concentration and collaboration spaces while adding a touch of sophistication. The tables complemented the Noom 50’s on castors perfectly. A simple, comfortable chair that is also highly versatile and durable; essential characteristics for a standard chair that can be used in both private and public work environments.

The Longo Low Back Range’s functionality and configurability were ideal for the NZME waiting area. Its various modules perfectly adapt to any entrance space requirements. The Longo was ideal for meeting the needs of such a dynamic and busy environment, providing a comfortable and flexible solution as well as a friendly, open, and relaxed environment.

The diverse range of furniture pieces selected were an excellent fit for NZME Christchurch, resulting in a modern, urban workplace environment for NZME. We were able to deliver a contemporary, adaptable office in collaboration with Three Sixty Architecture.
